Green Resource Index

The Green Resource Index (GRI) is designed to help businesses, industries, local governments and others reduce their environmental impact. The GRI focuses on the following:

  • recyclers and/or end users of your company’s by-products;
  • equipment to manage and minimize waste;
  • substitutes for hazardous material; and
  • other services to help your company become environmentally friendly.

The listings in the GRI are provided by the companies. No charge is made to list the organization or for the distribution of the publication. This publication is printed annually. The online version, however, is updated as needed throughout the year and can be found here.

(DHEC) does not endorse any of the listings. It is the responsibility of the user of this publication to determine whether the company is in compliance with all applicable federal, state and local regulations.

If you would like to update a listing, report an inaccuracy or need additional help, please call DHEC’s Office of Solid Waste Reduction and Recycling at 1-800-768-7348.

The Office also provides additional resources to businesses and other organizations. The S.C. Smart Business Recycling Program is a free, voluntary, confidential program designed to provide technical assistance to help facilities begin or expand green practices such as waste reduction, recycling and composting; energy and water conservation; and environmentally preferred purchasing.

In addition, this program is linked to the Southern Waste Information Exchange (SWIX). SWIX is a free service to help businesses find markets for material traditionally discarded.
