Board Member - William D. Richmond, MD

Dr. William Richmond is an emergency medicine physician and leader with nearly 40 years of experience in the field.

A Virginia native, Dr. Richmond earned a degree cum laude in biology from Hampden-Sydney College in 1979 and attended the Medical College of Virginia, earning his medical degree in 1983.

He completed his residency at the Medical University of South Carolina and is a fellow of the American College of Emergency Physicians.

In 1984, Dr. Richmond began his career at Tidelands Health, the largest health care provider in Horry, Georgetown and Williamsburg counties. He actively cares for patients and serves as director of emergency medicine for the health system providing oversight of all emergency medicine staff and care.

Through the years, Dr. Richmond has repeatedly been elected by his peers to serve as chief of the Tidelands Health medical staff, a key role responsible for providing leadership, guidance and effective communication between medical staff and administrators.

Dr. Richmond lives in Pawleys Island with his wife, Dr. Gayle Richmond. They have five adult children and two grandchildren.

Dr. Richmond represents Congressional District 7 on the Board and was appointed by South Carolina Gov. Henry McMaster.
