These standards ensure responsible management of tanning salons to prevent overexposure and injury from indoor tanning. The regulation also provides standards for the cleanliness (sanitation) of the tanning beds and protective eyewear, the maintenance of the tanning units and lamps, and the training of the tanning equipment operators.
