On November 19, 2019 at 6:30 PM, SC DHEC’s Bureau of Land and Waste Management
(BLWM) and Bureau of Air Quality (BAQ) will hold a joint public hearing regarding the
proposed Chester Quarry (permit application # I-002270) in Chester County. The public
hearing will be held at the Gateway Convention Center located at 3200 Commerce Dr. Suite
C, Richburg, SC 29729. The public hearing is an opportunity for the public to provide DHEC
their comments, views, and information about the proposed project. The public hearing is
formal and provides the opportunity for interested persons to have their comments recorded by
a court reporter. Both oral and written comments will be accepted.

Luck Stone Corporation has applied for a permit to mine granite at a site in Chester County
(TMS 089-00-00-025-000). The proposed Chester Quarry site is approximately 4 Miles
northeast of Chester, SC. A proposed reclamation plan to restore the site to grassland,
lake/pond and commercial development has been submitted with the application.

The public is encouraged to review the mine permit application documents to prepare for the
public hearing. Information concerning this application can be found under I-002270 on the
Public Notice/ Mining Program site of the SCDHEC webpage:

Anyone interested is welcome to come and learn about the proposed operation and have their
comments recorded by a court reporter. Written comments will also be accepted.

DHEC encourages and welcomes comments through December 4, 2019, the end of the
comment period. All comments received will be considered before a final permit decision is
made.
