DHEC held a virtual public hearing on October 7, 2021 at 6:30 pm to accept comments on the Draft Hazardous & Mixed Waste Permit for the Savannah River Site (SRS). The public hearing was held virtually using an online platform. This platform provided interested persons the opportunity to participate remotely using a phone, computer, or other mobile device.  

The public hearing was an opportunity for comments to be heard by DHEC staff and recorded by a court reporter. A transcript of the virtual public hearing can be found here.

Written comments on the draft Hazardous and Mixed Waste Permit were accepted through close of business on October 22, 2021.

After consideration of all comments received during the public comment period, DHEC has made a decision to issue the hazardous and mixed waste permit to SRS. The Permit Decision notification letter can be found here.

This action constitutes a final permit decision for SRS.  The permit decision will become effective on December 15, 2021 unless it is appealed in accordance with the procedures described in the Guide to Board Review.
