Next Steps

Early in the investigation, DHEC committed to keeping the Edisto Court and Rosewood communities informed of future developments and established this webpage where additional information could be obtained. With the completion of the 2016-2017 soil removal on several commercial properties on and around Commerce Drive, DHEC does not anticipate any new information being added to this page.

DHEC will retain oversight of the commercial properties where lead and arsenic was found above removal standards. This oversight will include long-term monitoring and inspections to ensure that conditions remain consistent with commercial and industrial land use.

Any property owner or occupant should contact Keisha Long at (803) 898-0774 immediately if magenta, pink, or purple dirt (as shown in the photos below) is discovered when digging below 2 feet in the following areas:

  • Between Howe Street and Adeline Drive; or
  • Between Easy Street and the CSX railroad tracks behind the Seaco property.
