Meet Our Education Team

Jillian Clinton, RD, LD, Nutritionist, graduated from Clemson University with a Bachelor of Science degree in Dietetics and completed her Dietetic Internship at MUSC in Charleston, SC. Jillian has experience in clinical, outpatient counseling, and community settings. She loves her current work as a community dietitian because she can connect, teach, and share her knowledge and passion for healthy living throughout South Carolina. In her free time, Jillian enjoys being active outdoors, attending Clemson football games, experimenting with new healthy recipes at home, and exploring the local restaurant scene in Columbia.

Caroline Coats, Nutrition Education Specialist, graduated from Georgia Southern University with a Bachelor of Science degree in Nutrition and Food. Caroline first started working at DHEC in the Richland County WIC clinic and has worked with the SNAP-Education Program since 2018. Through the SNAP-Ed Program, Caroline provides nutrition education to members of the South Carolina community.  Caroline is pursuing a Master of Science degree in Human Nutrition from Winthrop University. In her free time, Caroline enjoys cooking, reading, spending time with friends and family, and being outside, preferably at the beach. 

Genine Hodges, BS, State Nutrition Action Coalition (SNAC) Community Liaison, graduated from South Carolina State University with a Bachelor of Science degree in Family and Consumer Sciences with a concentration in Child Development. She has over twenty years of experience in program administration, federal grant writing, state and federal nutrition education policy, child development, and social service. Genine has extensive experience in marketing, program management, and expanding food and nutrition programs through coordinated efforts to reach the most vulnerable population.  Prior to joining DHEC, Genine administered the SC State SNAP-Education Program at the SC Department of Social Services. She provided training and technical assistance to local SNAP-Ed agencies, developed a statewide fruit and vegetable market project, managed the Healthy Bucks Incentive Program, SNAP Outreach, and the Senior Farmers Market Nutrition Program. She is a devoted wife, proud mother of one son, and two fur babies (dog and cat).  In her spare time, she enjoys spending time with family and friends, listening to music, and painting.

Jessica Morrison, RD, LD, Nutrition Education Specialist Coordinator, graduated from Kansas State University with a Bachelor of Science degree in Dietetics and completed her Dietetic Internship with Priority Nutrition Care. Jessica accepted her first job as a registered dietitian nutritionist with the SNAP-Education Program at DHEC in Columbia. Jessica teaches nutrition and cooking classes to children, teens, adults and older adults and serves as a preceptor for dietetic interns. In her free time, she enjoys cooking, trying new restaurants, spending time with friends and family, practicing yoga and traveling. Jessica is a pet-mom to a part-Maine Coon cat named Rascal aka Boy and loves snuggling with him.

Joy Price, NDTR, CLC, Nutrition Education Specialist, graduated from Winthrop University with a Bachelor of Science degree in Human Nutrition. Joy spent a year serving in an Eastern North Carolina community under the AmeriCorps Program. Joy is a Nutrition and Dietetic Technician Registered (NDTR) and a Certified Lactation Consultant (CLC). In her spare time, she enjoys yoga, knitting, and spending quality time with her family.

Sherretta Thomas, MS, CLC, CDF, Nutrition Education Specialist, graduated from South Carolina State University with a Bachelor of Science degree in Family and Consumer Science with a concentration in Child Development. She earned a Master of Science degree in Nutritional Sciences from South Carolina State University. Sherretta is a Certified Lactation Consultant (CLC) and a certified ServSafe Manager. Sherretta is certified as a Career Development Facilitator (CDF) and Human Development Consultant. She has experience in various community nutrition roles such as a Family and Consumer Science County Agent, Program Coordinator and Research Assistant. She is the proud wife of Dr. Marlon L. Thomas and a devoted mother of four amazing children, two girls and two boys.

Farrah Wigand, RDN, LD, CSOWM, Nutritionist, graduated from the University of Kentucky with a Bachelor of Science degree in Dietetics and completed her dietetic internship at Spalding University in Louisville, Kentucky. Farrah is a Certified Specialist in Obesity Weight Management (CSOWM).  Her practice experience includes nutrition care in the hospital, weight management nutrition counseling, private practice, and business. Farrah enjoys spending time with her husband and two very active children.  In her free time, she loves to cook, exercise and socialize with her friends and family.

Kia Muse, BS, Administrative Assistant, graduated for the University of Phoenix with a Bachelor of Science degree in Business Management and Hospitality Management. Kia is a certified ServSafe Manager. Kia’s focus in high school was Business Preparation.  In 1989, when she started working for her hometown’s local caterer, she had no idea that background would set her up for nothing but success. Kia’s experience in both administration and culinary arts has allowed her to go into preschools to introduce fresh fruit and vegetables to children and assist with cooking class. Kia enjoys watching sports, movies, crafts, and socializing with her friends and family. Most of all, Kia loves spending time with her five wonderful children, three beautiful granddaughters and her mother.
