Make sure your child is up to date with all recommended vaccines.
Don't wait until the end of the summer! Schedule an appointment early with your child's health care provider or health department to get vaccinated. Vaccines are important to protect our kids from diseases such as measles, mumps, chickenpox and whooping cough.

COVID-19 vaccines are not required. However, DHEC and the CDC continue to recommend that everyone six months and older receive their COVID-19 vaccination to protect themselves and others. Currently, the Pfizer and Moderna COVID-19 vaccines are available for those six months and older. The Novavax vaccine is available for those 12 and older.
Being up to date with your COVID-19 vaccines is the best way to stay healthy and keep those around you healthy, too. Talk to your pediatrician or find a free COVID-19 vaccine provider near you at scdhec.gov/vaxlocator.

Refugee Immunization Information
- This section only applies to children who are refugees.
- Children considered refugees should receive the required vaccines if immunization documentation is not available.
- Hepatitis B Vaccination exception:
- In general, Hepatitis B serology should not replace completion of the routine Hepatitis B series.
- If a provider chooses to draw Hepatitis B titers:
- The serologic markers most widely used in the diagnosis of acute, chronic, resolved HBV infection, and/ or vaccine immunity include HBV surface antigen (HBsAg), antibody to HBsAg (anti-HBs), and antibody to HBcAg (total and IgM anti-HBc). See Expanded Hepatitis B Serologic Marker Interpretation and Initial Management Table (CDC)
- Resource: CDC Hepatitis B resource regarding hepatitis serologies and interpretation of results for refugees.
- If the titers indicate Hepatitis B immunity, the provider must document all of the following information on the South Carolina Certificate of Immunization (DHEC 4024) line corresponding to Hepatitis B:
- "Positive Titer - Hep B"
- Date of titer
