DHEC continues to adapt its reporting schedule for COVID-19 data. Going forward, these changes will take effect:

As of July 27, 2021, weekday reporting for COVID-19 death data will only include columns for the county and the death count for that county. The age range and probable or confirmed death columns will no longer be listed in our online report, but will still be published on our county-level dashboard. Weekly death totals by county will be published once a week on Tuesdays and will include age ranges. This allows the latest weekend totals to be counted and compiled on Monday, so the public has access to the most accurate information.

Because the number of COVID-19 deaths is declining due to lifesaving vaccines and because DHEC is charged with protecting individuals’ rights to privacy, the agency is returning to its standard reporting protocol, using the “less than five” measure for deaths.

While deaths due to COVID-19 are declining because of the lifesaving COVID-19 vaccines that are available, cases and hospitalizations are currently rising in South Carolina, as in many other states, because large numbers of the population remain unvaccinated. We urge all South Carolinians to protect themselves and others by getting their COVID-19 vaccines if they haven't already. Vaccines are how we end the COVID-19 pandemic once and for all.
